Lightning Step Technologies provides the most comprehensive web-based Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software for addiction treatment and mental health. Our platforms empower our clients to quickly and easily manage patient needs from admission to discharge, with provisions for billing and integrations with payment processors, billers, insurance companies, and other providers. In addition to the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) functionality of our EMR product, we also have a stand-alone RCM product, Lightning RCM.
About the Role
We are looking for a Clinical Product Manager to join our dynamic product and tech team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding the development and management of features on the clinical side of our product, ensuring they uniquely solve the problems and needs of our customers in the mental and behavioral health sector. As a Clinical Product Manager at Lightning Step, your mission is to lead the development and management of clinical features that significantly enhance patient care's quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. In this role, you will serve as a vital bridge between the technological capabilities of our products and the real-world needs of healthcare professionals and patients. Your primary focus will be understanding the intricate dynamics of the healthcare industry, particularly in the areas we serve, and translating this into product features that meet and exceed clinical requirements. You will be instrumental in ensuring our products comply with healthcare standards and regulations and set new benchmarks in clinical excellence and user experience. Your expertise will drive innovation in our clinical product line, ensuring our solutions are at the forefront of technological advancement while remaining deeply rooted in practical, clinical utility.
Responsibilities
● Development of product strategy and vision - One of the primary responsibilities is establishing the overall vision and strategy for the clinical side of the Lightning Step product. This involves understanding the specific needs of the mental and behavioral health market, identifying opportunities for innovation, and setting clear goals for what the product should achieve. It includes developing and maintaining a product roadmap that aligns with the organization’s objectives and market demands.
● Market and user research - The Clinical Product Manager will conduct thorough market research to understand the evolving needs of healthcare providers, patients, and other mental and behavioral health stakeholders. This involves staying abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements. Gathering user feedback and incorporating it into product development is crucial to ensure the products remain relevant and user-friendly.
● Cross-functional team leadership - The Clinical Product Manager will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, design, marketing, sales, and support teams, to ensure successful product development, launch, and lifecycle management. This involves coordinating efforts across different areas, resolving conflicts, and ensuring everyone is aligned with the product vision and objectives.
● Oversight of product development - The Clinical Product Manager will oversee the entire product development process from concept to launch. This includes prioritizing features, defining product requirements, and working closely with the engineering or development teams to ensure that the product is built to specifications. It also involves managing the product backlog and deciding what features to build and when.
● Compliance and quality assurance - The Clinical Product Manager will ensure that the product complies with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, particularly mental and behavioral health. This involves staying informed about regulations and implementing necessary changes in the product.
● Stakeholder engagement - The Clinical Product Manager will engage with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patients, and technology partners. This role involves actively seeking input from these groups to inform product development and ensure the product meets their needs. It also includes effectively communicating product updates, developments, and changes to these stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of the product’s value proposition and capabilities.
● Training and support - The Clinical Product Manager will collaborate with implementations, training, and support teams to develop comprehensive training materials and support resources for the product's end-users. This includes ensuring that training materials are accurate, user-friendly, and tailored to the specific needs of healthcare providers in mental and behavioral health. The Clinical Product Manager may also be involved in delivering training sessions or demonstrations to key users or at industry events.
● Performance analysis and reporting - The Clinical Product Manager will monitor and analyze the performance of the product post-launch. This includes tracking key performance indicators (KPIs). The Clinical Product Manager is responsible for compiling and presenting regular reports on product performance to senior management and recommending improvements or enhancements based on data-informed insights.
Requirements and Competencies
● Over 4 years of experience in healthcare technology, especially as a product manager.
● Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Engineering, Business, or related field.
● Clinical knowledge and expertise - The Clinical Product Manager needs to deeply understand clinical processes, particularly in the mental and behavioral health space. This includes familiarity with clinical workflows, patient care standards, and healthcare providers' specific challenges and needs in this field. This knowledge enables the Clinical Product Manager to ensure the developed product features are relevant, useful, and compliant with clinical best practices.
● Expertise with healthcare technology solutions - The Clinical Product Manager needs to show proficiency in the specific technologies used in healthcare settings, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and Practice Management (PM) systems. This competency ensures that the Clinical Product Manager can effectively bridge the gap between clinical needs and technical solutions, understanding the capabilities and limitations of various technologies.
● Product management skills - The Clinical Product Manager needs to demonstrate core product management skills, including the ability to define product vision, develop roadmaps, prioritize features, and manage the product lifecycle. This also involves understanding the market, the competition, and customer needs and how to translate these into a successful product strategy.
● Strategic thinking and problem-solving - The Clinical Product Manager needs to have the ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
