Partner Spotlight - American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)

Partner Spotlight - American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)

At Lightning Step, we're proud to partner with ASAM, who are absolute rockstars in creating top-notch patient assessments and software solutions for addiction medicine. Their dedication to making a difference perfectly aligns with what we're all about here at Lightning Step.

We sat down with the ASAM CONTINUUM team and picked their brains about our shared mission, how their software works, and the benefits this partnership can bring to healthcare pros, institutions, and the people they help daily.

Q: Who founded Your company, and why did they start the company?

A: Dr. Ruth Fox founded the American Medical Society on Alcoholism (AMSA) in 1954 after organizing meetings with fellow physicians interested in treating those with alcohol use disorders. Following the merger of AMSA with the American Academy of Addictionology, the organization was renamed to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to reflect the interest of member physicians in establishing addiction medicine for all drugs within mainstream medical practice.

With over 8,000 members, ASAM is a physician-led professional community dedicated to preventing, treating, and promoting recovery and remission from substance use disorders through the provision of resources that encourage innovation and implementation of comprehensive addiction science and care.

Q: Explain how Your company works with Lightning Step and the benefits of the partnership?

A: ASAM is excited to announce its partnership with Lightning Step to integrate the ASAM CONTINUUM, an innovative computer-guided software that facilitates comprehensive assessment and accurate placement of patients with substance use disorders aligned with The

ASAM Criteria into their Electronic Medical Record system. Through our strategic partnership, health professionals can streamline their clinical workflow by efficiently accessing and conducting ASAM CONTINUUM assessments, generating comprehensive patient reports, and directly tracking patient progress over time from Lightning Step's platform. Lightning Step's dedicated collaboration with ASAM drives health IT innovation by delivering gold-standard quality care solutions that empower healthcare providers with the tools to provide effective and personalized care to those struggling with addictions.

Q: How do you see the ASAM CONTINUUM impacting the future of behavioral health?

A: ASAM is committed to improving the quality of addiction medicine through innovative quality improvement solutions. Our health technology tools are bridging the gap between the evolving capabilities of health IT and gold-standard behavioral health care. The ASAM CONTINUUM plays a crucial role in shaping the future of behavioral health care by enhancing the quality and effectiveness of treatment, reducing fragmentation, and promoting a more comprehensive and patient-centric approach to care.

The ASAM CONTINUUM is a comprehensive framework that guides the assessment, treatment, and continued care of individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. The ASAM CONTINUUM promotes integrated care and personalized treatment plans to improve patient outcomes by providing a standardized and evidence-based approach. It emphasizes a patient-centered approach, recognizing that each individual has unique needs and circumstances. The framework also addresses the complexity of addiction and biopsychosocial conditions, ensuring that healthcare providers can deliver holistic care considering the full spectrum of an individual's health and well-being.

Working with ASAM CONTINUUM makes us better and shows our commitment to a healthier future for everyone. As we take on the healthcare industry's challenges together, we can't wait to see the positive changes we can make.
